Pregnant women are considered a vulnerable population during the COVID-19 pandemic, and this project pilots a nurse midwifery-led prenatal model of care for pregnant women that delivers care to them in the comfort of their homes. As a result, their families can be a part of the experience, something that has been curtailed in most doctors' offices because of exposure risk.
Through this project, “Clients routinely express gratitude and decreased anxiety," says Dr. Heather Soper, CNM and Assistant Professor of Nursing. “Students have also observed the satisfaction that fathers and children have being involved with the care.”
